Like many of us, for years I tried to follow the tradition of New Year’s resolutions in January.
Since I don’t smoke and don’t really have weight to lose, I often ended up telling myself I’d start the year with fewer alcohol-related excesses and more vegetarian meals 🤡 (And since I didn’t have a child yet and I’m French, the alcohol-related resolution was usually forgotten after about three days, right when my partner opened a bottle of red wine at noon.)(The good old days!)
The problem with New Year’s resolutions is that I always felt they put unnecessary pressure on January, only to leave us with a bitter sense of failure the following month. Not exactly the most joyful way to start a new year.
So I asked myself: how could I start the year with a genuine feeling of accomplishment?
And I found an answer. 🤡
I started writing down everything I had accomplished during the previous year.
Month by month, I noted meaningful events, projects I had started or completed, and good habits I had begun and maintained.
By the time I finished, I was staring at a page full of things I was genuinely proud of.
I realized that, beyond valuing the previous year and highlighting how much it had helped me grow, this list also became a springboard for the year ahead. How could I keep this momentum going and feel just as proud next year?
| In 2025: discovering coworking and creating coworkings.space
In December 2024, I remember waking up one night with an urgent need to find a solution to the feeling that I was never truly disconnecting from work in my personal life (I talked about it in this previous article, actually)
Joining a coworking space suddenly felt like a lifeline. And luckily, a coworking space had just opened 20 minutes from my home (Let me tell you, that feels like a sign from life when you know how remote the area I live in is 😄)
In January 2025, I picked up my access badge to the open space and discovered a whole new way of approaching my remote-work routine.
Now it’s January 2026, and I can proudly add to my 2025 achievements list that this coworking space, which I’ve been going to twice a week for the past year, has played a major role in the balance I’ve built month after month.
From this new habit, a new project was born as well: this platform, coworkings.space, which I’m confident will make its way onto my 2026 achievements list next year 😉
Happy New Year to everyone. Take care of your health, cherish your loved ones, and may 2026 bring you its share of learning and accomplishments 🚀
